The Jem, Waterford Estate, South Africa, 2017
The Jem 2017 is Waterford Estate’s flagship red blend from Stellenbosch, South Africa, crafted from eight estate-grown varietals led by Cabernet Sauvignon. Complex and finely structured, it shows layers of dark fruit, red berries, fynbos, crushed violets, clove spice and vanilla oak. The palate is rich yet balanced, with velvety tannins, fresh natural acidity and a long mineral finish. Aged for 20 months in French oak, this premium South African red is built for depth, harmony and long ageing potential. It was awarded 97 points by Tim Atkin for the 2017 vintage.
